One Web Day is an annual event held worldwide on a single date to highlight the importance of the web in people's daily lives. I met with their representatives in DC a couple of weeks back and the idea slowly grew in my mind to do a fiber related "happening" for this years's One Web Day which happens to be tomorrow, September 22nd. I had very little time to organise things, but I finally have confirmation on all fronts, although as you will see below, the events and locations can still expand.

The basic story is this: we are setting up two fibered anchors for this event, one in Paris and one in Amsterdam. A permanent video bridge will be set-up between the two tomorrow Sept. 22nd between 7 PM and 10 PM (or more if the fun lasts). Other fibered localites can join us, just drop me an email telling me where the location is so that people can meet-up with you in person.

Coming in person will not only allow you to see and participate in the video bridge, it will also allow you to talk to us about what the internet means to you, what you do with it and what you hope it will allow you to do in the future. Videos will be shot and uploaded to the web in (near) real time. Both locations are places where you can also have a drink, sit down, relax and chat!

The (current) locations are as follows:

In Paris:

La Cantine
151 rue Montmartre
12, Galerie Montmartre
Paris 2° (Mo: Grands Boulevards)

In Amsterdam:

Koffiehuis KHL Amsterdam
Oostelijke Handelskade 44
1019 BN Amsterdam
Tel: 020 779 15 75

We want as many people as possible to come and see us, so please spread the word around, tweet about it, re-tweet, etc. Other locations will be added as they come on board. Let's get some international video discussions between fibered people going! The hashtag for any twitter related activities is #OWD09.

I want to thank three organisations that really helped me set this up and get it going, namely Silicon Sentier who run La Cantine and offered us the access to the location, Citynet in Amsterdam who helped organise the Dutch leg of the operation and VSee who has agreed to help us with the video part.

Please attend, e-mail or tweet about this !!!
