Passive Optical LAN is sometimes described as Fiber to the Desk. It uses point to multipoint fiber connections to deliver gigabit speeds to every end point within a business location. It’s gaining traction in the B2B market, but operators have traditionally not been strong on LAN sales, if they entered that market at all.
Nokia commissioned Diffraction Analysis to explore the reasons why Passive Optical LAN is a technology that operators should look into, not only because it plays to their strengths but because it complements the shift towards the cloud that they are spearheading.
The result of this piece of work is a white paper entitled ‘Passive Optical LAN Opens Up Opportunities for B2B Service Providers‘ which you can download here.
